The client wanted to be able to sit out in and enjoy her garden rather than looking out on the blank canvas and wondering where to start. She wanted a space to invite friends round, including a patio, a small area of grass and lots of planting. She liked the idea of flowing curves and using reclaimed materials.
We decided to paint the garage wall a bold colour to act as a foil for planting in the raised bed built alongside it. Trellis was attached for climbers which will also soften the look over time. The curve of the bed follows the curve of the brick path, ending in a circular patio. A small patch of lawn allows for that barefoot experience. Another curved path leads to a bench in the shade. Training wires for climbers were installed on the beautiful stone wall and a specimen tree, Clerodendrum trichotomum, was planted to conceal the water butt.
The ugly pebble-dashed garage wall really dominated the space and would need either disguising or turning into a feature wall.
The testimonial says it all.
Before & After
Helen was recommended to me by a neighbour when I was looking for someone to help me redesign my garden. Helen met with me on a number of occasions to discuss my style and ideas for the space, she was able to take my thoughts and make them into designs which combined how I wanted to use the garden, the colours and plants that I liked, and her own creative influence. She also took into consideration my budget and the level of maintenance I would be able to keep up with.
Helen managed the project from beginning to end and I was left with a real sanctuary. The garden has been a beautiful space to spend time in and entertain. When I was planning to put my home on the market, the garden became a huge selling point and helped to secure offers. Everyone who viewed the property was impressed with the outside space and how colourful and vibrant it is.
The garden has been particularly important for me during this last year, and has been key in maintaining positive well-being.
I have, and will continue, to recommend Helen Warburton at Honesty Gardens to anyone who is looking to redesign their outside space to become a creative and calming addition to their home.
